Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview(Build 10166) - Is it ready for primetime?

With the impending release of Windows 10 on computers and tablet looming, the updates for phones are coming fast. Just a few weeks after the last update (10149), Microsoft again release the updated with slight changes and bug fixes for the fast ring users. The update came as a surprise as most publication are reporting leaked build 10158 just days ago.

Our biggest gripe with the previous build and this new build is that the error for flash update on some website such as Youtube mobile just a while ago. With the new browser would drop silverlight support, Micosoft Edge is still a long way to go to be a proper browser and we somehow missed IE on the insider build. On the earlier build, Microsoft Edge is another option where IE is still the default browser, this would ease transition where users could try both browser on any website.

Build 10166 remove Store transition app, Windows Store are now totally replace as such as Microsoft Edge replace IE on the previous built. Visually, there are few difference such as minor difference in title bar colour and also the size of the battery icon that were reported by a lot of user as too small. With this build most of the earlier reported known issue have been fixed as posted by Gabe Aul in his blog.

"Most of the known issues we listed for Build 10149 have been fixed. We also fixed the issue where the post-upgrade migration status screen was missing, which made the Lock screen appear frozen without the date and time for up to 10 minutes. The post-upgrade migration status screen should appear normally now. We also fixed the issue where you were unable to unlock your phone after entering your PIN and it keeps letting you type even though you entered your pin correctly that was caused by a TPM issue. The colors in apps should now appear correctly including in including the titlebar in the Outlook Mail app which is no longer orange. And we also improved reliability of app downloads and updates from the Store (which is now no longer marked as “Beta” and the old Store has been removed)"

If you are one of the insider and updated this build, we recommend you to run update for all your apps since the (beta) store is now the main default store.

How do you think of the new build or even Windows 10 phone itself? Please feel free to comment below.
