Update : Official India firmware update are available (Android 5.1.1) EMUI 3.1
Honor Malaysia recently released a Beta version of EMUI 3.1 for owners of Honor 6 in Malaysia. This beta will introduce Android Lollipop 5.1.1 based EMUI ROM and was only opened for Malaysian Honor device that register on their facebook page. The EMUI 3.1 Beta for Malaysian user is the latest build available to date H60-L04V100R001C0B511 , even higher than what was available as a BETA release for European market earlier.
We've manage to get a copy the update file with a big help from Julian Lau own OTA and we've managed to compile the necessary file to update your Honor 6 Build B380 (EMUI 3.0) to the latest B511 (EMUI 3.1 Beta). This how-to is without any guarantee that it would work and it may or may not render your phone unusable. Please follow and read the instruction carefully before doing these steps and as a precaution, always backup your phone.
For readers of this blog, you might be running the latest Malaysia's version of EMUI 3.0 (B380) and that would be easier for you as this update was meant for B380 devices. For those who are not yet on B380, please refer link below to update your phone to the latest version prior to this installation.

As any other Lollipop installation, all apps need to be reinstalled right after the update and this would take as long as 2 hours depending on how many apps are installed. The second issue is the Google apps preloaded with the EMUI 3.1 is not the latest / correct version and it have to be reinstalled again. The reasoning for this is that the available EMUI 3.1 on the market are for 64bit devices and on 5.0.2 version while Honor 6 are 32bit on 5.1.1. We really hope Huawei realized their mistake and release a proper update when the Beta testing is complete.
We also found out users are also complaining about other things and we would compile the known issue in the next post. Please feel free to comment if you guys have any questions.
Thank you to Julian Lau (Honor Family Malaysia) for the OTA file
Where could I able to find the download link? TQ :)
ReplyDeleteUnder the Google ads ;) .. Didn't know that you didn't register for the beta.. I know I can only milk this today.. By tomorrow the file would be copied everywhere.. Hahahaha
ReplyDeleteI did register beta however didn't get the ota update instead of inform honor I saw this site really useful . Thumb up
ReplyDeleteShould thank Julian lau from HFM.. He is the one that upload the update file for me.. Takes him over night to do that..should thank him
ReplyDeleteReally great effort to upload 1GB base file, really appreciate for the hardwork :)
ReplyDeleteMy device is rooted by King root... So I can't update my device to EMUI 3.1....even after unroot, can't install the update... What should I do?
ReplyDeleteWhat is your current recovery?
ReplyDeleteB380
ReplyDeleteRoot should not change any OS structure but somehow your EMUI have changed.. Do you change anything else like xposed or any *.prop?.. If you didn't change anything that means kingroot change something it should not be changing..
ReplyDeleteI'm just using some apps like xmod, freedom, lucky patcher...didn't change any.prop file... Is there any way to install emui 3.1 in rooted phone?
ReplyDeleteIt's not because of rooted but because of the apps you install, my guest its lucky patcher as that one have exposed.. Your build is not the same anymore with the original thus the update can't proceed. I need to highlight again that it's not because you rooted but because of the apps you used..
ReplyDeleteHelo, miss/sir.. How can reinstalled the Google Apps after I updated this lollipop update? Can i re-installed with the available playstore app?
ReplyDeleteAnd will the recent task menu still be the same as in EMUI 3.0 or will it change to the stack card style like in the nexus device?
To do immediate (recommended) reinstall is when the phone is done applying update, open apps -> Google play store -> uninstall update and restart the phone.. You would be ask to update the Google play store after reboot.. The recent task still look like EMUI 3.0 and not stacked as lollipop design
ReplyDeleteoh, i see.. If I reinstall all the G apps properly, is there any known issue or instabillity on this update?
ReplyDeleteAnd is it possible for me to revert back to EMUI 3.0?
There is no major issue for the OS but you might need to readjust to the new slightly different menu and interface.. Reverting back is not easy as this is an Adroid update from 4.4.2 to 5.1.1.. A downgrade would require full system flash
ReplyDeleteHi, Thanks to share the file, i have download twice, but everytime i update via local, at the recovery screen, runtill half ware and show faile..... duno why, previously i've update my firmware to B380 via OTA... and rooted
ReplyDeleteWhich recovery ? Is it CWM/TWRP or standard EMUI recovery
ReplyDeleteoriginal B380
ReplyDeleteNo idea.. The only reason for install failure is there is changes done to the b380 on your phone where its no longer the stock.. If you really want to install this, you might need to reflash b370 and B380 stock.. Seen few similar cases with you and they could only install after full system flash (B380)..
ReplyDeleteya, that why , now download the original b380 and try reflash, anywhere, B511 can be root??
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know there is no available root yet for lollipop on Honor 6.. If you would like to maintain rooted better don't install this beta update
ReplyDeleteflashed to B511. Everything seems ok. But extremely slow to install any apps from app store or sideload. Facebook app totally unable to install. Any work around to this issue?
ReplyDeleteExtremely slow installation is a known behaviour with this update (maybe because of ART).. Regarding Facebook you have to totally uninstall the app, removed cached of Google play store try install it again..
ReplyDeletetried that, same behavior. Facebook light can be installed. I also found out the total internal storage shrunk for about 4GB. I went in recovery mode, wiped the cache partition and did factory reset. After reboot, internal storage magically became 11GB+ . Will do a restore later using HiSuite. Not sure if it fix the slowness issue or not.
