Oppo R5 - Available next week | Preorder started

Oppo Malaysia will be making Oppo R5 available next week after the pre-order closes on 10th December. Oppo R5 is one of the thinnest smartphone in the world and was the thinnest during launch earlier this year. This super sleek phone is beautifully crafted design with metal body. The phone is less than 5mm think with Oppo claiming it at 4.85mm but this can be argued because the camera protrude slightly thicker than the body.

During this pre-order period, Oppo will be giving away gift for the first 3000 order. It is unknown if the order has exceed the 3000 or not but if you are in the market for a beautiful phone, this is the phone you should have a look before you decide.

Oppo R5 Spec

General
Dimensions 148.9 × 74.5 × 4.85 mm

Storage 16 GB
Battery 2000 mAh Li-Po battery with Rapid Charge

The slim body build would sacrifice space for the battery and that is a huge difference where Oppo need to balance power and that is maybe the main reason Oppo chose the Snapdragon 615 SoC. Snapdragon 615 is a mid tier SoC but still pack enough power from the Octa core 64bit design. The available 2GB of RAM would be sufficient to run the ColorOS Android 4.4 smoothly without any visible lag.

The AMOLED display is a big change from other Oppo smartphone offering where most of the time the display technology being used by Oppo is the IPS LCD. There might be a big reason for using AMOLED here as AMOLED tend to use less power. It is still a beautiful display with Full HD and AMOLED screed would give extra viewing angle.

The camera, a 13MP Sony BSI f2.0 camera is the most commonly found in many Chinese manufacturer devices. Oppo try to bring it a step further with their own camera software that can take Ultra HD 50MP photo using photo stitching. 4K video recording support also added to the standard Full HD and 720p video capture.

Oppo is trying to balance between battery life and usability by integrating multiple power saving hardware to actually gave this smartphone a reasonable battery life. All we can say, this is a very beautiful phone and normally, beauty would came with a price. We will try to get our hand on this phone as soon as it is launch and try to give our own personal experience with the phone and will the 2000mAh battery last with normal usage.
