Microsoft Video updated - Now support MKV

Microsoft have started to update Xbox Video on windows 8.1 that now support Matroska Multimedia Container (MKV) natively. The latest version, would be able to support playback of most MKV video as long as Microsoft have the codec for it. This is a welcome update as user normally would need to download third party player in order to playback any MKV files.

We've tried to update our Windows 10 Video player but it is not supported yet and show us error while updating. The current Video player update would only be available for Windows 8.1 it seems. With the last announcement of supporting FLAC and now MKV, we can safely assumed which ever version available for Windows 10 would be able to play both media type out of the box.

These feature would varies depending on your location and the availability of Xbox Video in your region.

If you own Windows 8.1, be sure to check for update and give MKV playback a try. We cant try the latest version currently so we can't say much on what MKV codec are supported for now. If you already update, maybe you can give your comment below.
