Honor 6 - Final Kitkat OTA update for Malaysia (H60-L04V100R001C00B396)

While India and International Honor 6 (H60-L04) are getting their Official Lollipop update, Malaysia are for once behind the curve. The biggest reason of the delay is that Honor Malaysia is doing all they can to enable OTA update for all Malaysia Honor 6 devices. Both India and International Update file are uploaded for users of the phone to update manually that most of the time would not reach every user of their device.
Personally, we commended what Honor Malaysia is trying to do for all Honor users in Malaysia with the OTA update.



On the week as Lollipop update availability for others, Honor Malaysia started pushing the last OTA update for Kitkat (EMUI 3.0) with the latest build H60-L04V100R001C00B396 that is actually a collection of EMUI bug fixes and android "stage fright" patch.

Other than that, this B396 update is required as a preliminary update prior to the OTA update of EMUI 3.1 (Lollipop) in Malaysia.

With the release of this, we can safely expect to see OTA for EMUI 3.1 would start between 2-3 weeks from now giving time for majority of the device to install this update.

This file is update.zip file and that would means it is an inline update that would only works on H60-L04V100R001C00B380 build. If you are not on B380 build and would like to install this update, you can head over to our earlier post for the update files.

Honor 6 - B380 update

For those who wish to install and are on B380 build, please follow the steps below.

1. Download the Honor 6 B396 update file to a PC / Phone
2. Plug in your device to the PC via USB cable (if using a PC)
3. Create "dload" folder on your SD Card and copy the update.zip in to it. (using pc explorer)
4. Plug out the phone and Open EMUI updater --> Chose Local Update
5. Install and reboot your phone (you should be updated to H60-L04V100R001C00B396)


This file also can be use to do minor upgrade if you have issue installing the international B521 update as some Malaysian user who are too eager have already installed B521 over this B396 build.
Honor 6 - EMUI 3.1 B521 Lollipop Update

We know for a fact that this file would not be the most popular update available currently with the availability of EMUI 3.1 (Lollipop) update but we thought that we should share this for those who might missed the OTA.
