Moto G (First Gen) - Android 5.1 update and Stage Fright patch

Last week Motorola released a security update for the most popular Moto series ever, the first generation Moto G. Surprisingly it was not just security patches for stagefright but an Android update also where the current build is bumped to Android 5.1. With the latest upgrade, user are expected to receive a host of system enhancement that came together with the 5.1 update.

The biggest changes in Android 5.1 is the ability to toggle within the notification center for Wifi and bluetooth pairing. Other than that, there are other host of changes as listed in the change log

Stagefright have been the biggest flaw to android to date and most manufacturer are trying to patch their phone as soon as possible. While Nexus phones are one of the earliest to the patch but it doesnt fix all known vulnerability that exist.

It is now that playing the waiting game is the best option for phone manufacturer as they seems to be able to learn from Nexus mistake and release a complete patch for their phones.

Motorola might be late in the game but they are still one of the manufacturer that actually doing something and that must be commendable. As of now, the are only a handful of phone manufacturer that actually releases patches and seems that the 3rd party ROM such as Cyanogenmod or Paranoid Android are the best option as of now because they have updated their recent release with Stage fright patches.
